Colin - I am an English schoolkid with lots of disabled friends and I feel compelled to say that it might not be the best thing to do. If you are being discriminated against in school then the school should have to sort it out. Try suggesting a whole-school Disability Awareness talk - there are people that do that kind of thing.
With regards to your problems with the workload at school, there is a system called an Individual Education Plan to help you cope in mainstream. Also, some special schools don't deliver a very good education - of course, most do, but watch out. Don't give up to the easy way out. The world will never improve if everyone who meets an obstacle takes a different way round.
Good luck. Take life in both hands and don't let it floor you.
