I do not have CP but my brother Michael, who is only ten months younger than me does. I am graduating from UW-Madison this May and he is graduating high school this May. I have been in a panic recently because of my worry over my brother. He desperately wants to be independent and work. He can drive and is obsessed with cars. He lives in Illinois but would visit me for weekends at my apartment in Madison, WI. The idea of living in his own apartment and being able to do simple things like cook his own dinner and vacuum his own floor realy appealed to him. He was planning on going to a school in Iowa for disabled students but due to loss of funding it no longer exists. We just found this out a few days ago. His school counselor is no help and any college that I contact is hestiant to help me at all. The problem is that Mike has learning disabilities and has trouble learning past a sixth grade level. He is the kindest and most personable guy in the world and I hate to see him disappointed. If anyone knows of continuing education oppurtunities for people with CP let me know.

I have really appreciated reading all the bios. It helps to know that no matter how tough the world seems or how unfair, there are strong people with strong stories--people that achieve great things. Best of luck to everyone!
