Name: Amber Cummings My daughter Amber age 11 is a right Hemi. She was born at the 31 week gestational age and was very sick as well as having a brain bleed. I have had her in a very specialized type of physical therapy for the past 7.5 years that has circumvented the need for surgeries and done much to reverse the paralysis. It is called E-stim and TES. It is super. Amber plays the violin and softball as well as being mainstreamed in a Fairfax County school for Gifted/Talented children. This is the first year we have had any problem with the school system and her teacher (who is clueless) - it seems disabled and Gifted/Talented are mutually exclusive to them. Amber loves her American girl doll, Beanie Babies and being a kid. I am very proud of my daughter - who was predicted to be non-vocal and wheelchair bound. She has worked very hard at therapy to get where she is today. She also has a great personality and is a kind caring person. She is a real trooper and all the set backs we have (divorce, moves, idiot teahers, etc) are just challenges for her. If you want to more about e-Stim and TES - feel free to e-mail at either trisha@bellatlantic.net or trishac@smdi.com. Trisha - Amber's mom |
